SELEUKID KINGS. Demetrios II Nikator, second reign, 129-126/5 BC. Tetradrachm (Subaeratus, 27 mm, 12.89 g, 12 h), a contemporary plated imitation. Imitating an issue from Tyre dated to SE 186 = 127/6 BC. Diademed and draped bust of Demetrios II to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΔΗΜΗΤΡΙΟΥ Eagle standing left on prow, wings closed and with palm frond behind; to left, A/PE above club surmounted by monogram of Tyre; to right, AΣΥ / CΠΡ (date); between eagle's legs, monogram. Cf. SC 2195.4b (for prototype). Roma E-Auction 47 (2018), 386 (same dies). An interesting contemporary plated imitation. Slightly rough and with a thin flan crack, otherwise, good very fine.
